Hot Summer

image

Skin is fresh and glowing this season rather than shining and overly fake tanned. The base is light and the look is almost matt, with some shimmer added for a natural look. To get this look, use liquid foundation and some concealer. Apply foundation by dabbing on cheeks, middle of forehead and chin, and blend with a foundation brush outwards. I love Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener to get rid of those dark under eye circles. Dab with your fingers on the darkest area, usually the hollow area, and blend. Finish with a highlighting pen over this and extending it up along cheekbones, try Touché Éclat by YSL. Finish with some translucent powder to erase shine. The Eyes: Eyes shimmer in metallic colours and creamy washes right now. The latest shows from Gucci and Dior all sported gold leaf metallic colours with black liner teamed with dramatic lips in pink and orange. Metallic and cream colours are easy to apply. The trick to keeping your colour on longer is to apply a base matt colour first like beige or bone top and bottom. Use a flat brush to apply your first colour all along eyelid and blending up towards brow and blend edges with fingers. I like to use a dark colour first then your second lighter colour really stands out. Try 66 Bronze Cube by Estee Lauder and use the same colour along bottom lashes, working from the outer corners in. Add a shimmery colour like vanilla by Estee Lauder to the inner corners of eyes for that doe-eyed effect and a dab of gold shimmer on the eyelid just above the lash line – try pure gold by L’Oreal Paris. Finish with some liner along top lash line, use a small angle brush and get as close to the lash line as possible. Try sitting your brush on your lashes and slide it in to the roots, using short strokes blend it from inner corners out creating a flick at the outer edge. Use black mascara on top and bottom lashes, not forgetting to brush through eyebrows and add in any areas with a natural colour. A foolproof one that suits all is MAC Eyebrow in lingering. Lips: With all the mad colours around at the moment, I recommend checking out a gloss or stain lipstick which is a good way to wear a strong colour. Apply a natural coloured lip liner first and simply apply colour, dabbing it on with your finger. Contact Roisin at makeupu@gmail.com or 087 2805073
